Our world of Mental Health is changing, thankfully. We are now seeing that our mental health affects our physically health and visa versa. We are only just beginning really to make real breakthroughs for us as human beings. We have suffered, mostly in silence. So afraid to let the world know that we are human and that thankfully that is all we are. As humans, we are flawed. Life is not perfect by any means for any of us. At Stress Free, our aim is to bring back the basics of what it is to connect to ourselves. In connecting we are more at home in ourselves, more able to face the days challenges and see great changes in our relationships both with ourselves and others

Mindfulness (MBSR & MBCT)

Mindfulness is becoming known in most walks of life as the benefits can and are life changing for people who take the tiem to be the change that they want to see in their lives. Our lives seems to be racing at a very fast pace, not time for any pleasure. We seem to be constantly stressed and uneasy within ourselves. We find it hard to remember and difficult to focus and concentrate.

Mindfulness is innate within ourselves and the MBSR?MBCT programme emables you to tap into this wisdom through an evidence based structure and allow us to live again, more fully and connected with how life is, in each moment, thereby easing anxiety and depressive thinking.

According to the founder of Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction, jon Kabat Zinn describes Mindfulness s an awareness that arises through paying attention, on purpose, in the present moment, non-judgementally. It is about knowing whats happening in your body, right here, right now.

Dis-ease within ourselves is filtering out into our families, our friends and our work colleagues. We are unable to change anyone else, only ourselves. In changing ourselves, everything else has potential to change and this ripples outwards

Psychotherapy

Mary is a qualified Psychotherapist. She has 18 years experience in the counselling field. She is Accredited with IAHIP, (Irish Association of Humanistic and Integrative Psychotherapy) the ICP (Irish Counselling and Psychotherapy) and the RCNI (Rape Crisis Network of Ireland). Mary holds a Masters with honors in Mindfulness Based Interventions from University College Dublin.

Work Experience
Mary has worked with Irish Society of Protection of Cruelty to Children, CURA (a crisis pregnancy counselling service), Mayo Women Support Services, The Irish Carers Association and in second level schools delivering programmes in whole body wellness. Mary is an experienced group facilitator. She Facilitates workshops on Mindful Living, Parenting and Stress Reduction.

Mary also played a vital role as instigator in the growth and management of a Suicide Prevention Page on a Social Networking Site. Immediately whilst growing this page it became very obvious how society was changing and the mediums through which we were communicate was also changing. Mary, at that time felt she had to tap deeper into her senses as she did not have the sense of sound and sight while working with, at times, very distraught people. To her amazement it worked, she was connecting with people at a very deep level. The Suicide Prevention Page was thriving and growing which also gave Mary the deep knowing that this work was for her and that she was capable of being with and managing it. This she done by holding clear ethical boundaries and by being a loving witness. Mary managed the workings of the page which was open 20 hours a day and also she Managed and provided educative workshops for the 25-30 team administrators.

Ethos
Mary is passionate about people and about their empowerment, she believes so many of us can give our power away too easily. Mary has a deep belief in the equality of the human being and will go to great lengths to support groups who have been marginalized in today’s world.

Mary’s Journey has been a very Gracious, humbling one laden with gifts of the heart. She takes a warm, compassionate and holistic approach while ‘being with’ her clients and their personal challenges. Mary provides a safe, non-judgemental space enabling the client to begin to explore what is happening for them. Mary looks forward to being your witness as you courageously begin your journey towards healing and peace of mind.
